How fintechs can join Latvijas Banka’s payment system

Latvijas Banka offers non-bank payment service providers the opportunity to join the Electronic Clearing System (EKS) – a payment system created and operated by Latvijas Banka.

EKS ensures the execution of instant and regular credit transfers across SEPA in a reliable and cost-effective way.

During the Latvia Fintech Forum 2025, in a Q&A session, Jānis Katkovskis, Head of the Payment Systems Operations Division at Latvijas Banka, explained how fintech companies can become direct participants in Latvijas Banka’s SEPA payment system.

Latvijas Banka also offers a sandbox environment. Even if a company is not yet licensed, it can already start technical integration and testing, which saves time and enables a faster connection to the system once the respective licence is obtained.

Latvijas Banka’s experts provide interested companies with prompt and professional advice and support throughout the entire collaboration journey.
